The course will enable students to critically analyse quantitative, qualitative, and kaupapa Māori approaches to research. Students will formulate a research question, literature review, ethics and the necessity for a kaupapa Māori research framework where required, research theories and an appropriate methodology to create a research proposal.

Eligibility


Admission and entry requirements for this qualification are in accordance with the academic regulations and the following criteria:

  • have access a relevant workplace
  • hold a bachelor’s degree (with or without honours) in a cognate subject with a B average or above; OR
    hold a postgraduate certificate, or postgraduate diploma in a cognate subject with a B average or above;
  • every candidate shall be approved by the faculty dean.

In exceptional circumstances, based on academic merit and relevant experience, students who do not meet the academic and practical or professional experience requirements above may be considered for admission subject to the completion of any qualifying courses the Postgraduate Board of Studies may prescribe which must be completed either prior to or concurrently.
