The PFH Private University of Göttingen was recognized in 1995 by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and is thus the oldest private, state-approved university in Lower Saxony. The idea was to set new impulses in the field of science and teaching with a purely private-funded university and to orient courses of study to the real needs of the economy. In 2007, the PFH was institutionally accredited by the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA). At the beginning of 2014, the Science Council institutionally reaccredited the PFH.

Since then, the university has made an active contribution to safeguarding Germany's competitiveness as a location for science and industry through the intensive training of qualified junior executives. PFH meets these demands by consistent practice orientation, distinctive internationality and by the development of innovative courses.

In August 2018, approximately 3,400 students enrolled in one of 26 study programs in Management , Engineering , Business / Psychology , Business Law , Technology or Healthcare Technology . They study at one of the three campus locations Göttingen, Stade or Berlin or at one of the  distance learning centers .

PFH - the entrepreneurial college

As an entrepreneurial university, one of the cornerstones of PFH's orientation is the training of entrepreneurial talent. The activities around this topic are bundled in the ZE Center for Entrepreneurship . The imparting of entrepreneurial content or entrepreneurial competence as a key qualification runs across all departments of the PFH.

Through the Board of Trustees and the more than 500 cooperating companies, the university is excellently networked with industry throughout Germany and is embedded in the mostly medium-sized business environment, especially in the regions of Göttingen and Stade. Entrepreneurial thinking is also reflected in the student body, for example by a large proportion of students who indicate self-employment as a career goal or who already come from an entrepreneurial-family background.
