Milano Fashion Institute is an interuniversity consortium for the higher education in the fashion industry founded in 2007 by three Milan universities: Bocconi University, Cattolica University and Politecnico of Milan, whose goal is the creation of a multi-disciplinary training center of excellence at an international level. These three universities have a primary role in the international university scene, drawing on consolidated experience in the research and training activities for businesses in the fashion sector in the fields of management, communication and design. The creation of the Milano Fashion Institute promotes professionals that are formed on the basis of transversality and interdisciplinary of the Universities’ competences.
Thus, Milano Fashion Institute is a unique initiative in Europe The training programme involves academics and researchers in Economics and Management disciplines from Bocconi University, in Social Sciences and Communication from the Cattolica University, and in Technology and Design from Politecnico of Milan.
Usually, programs in the fashion industry involve only one or two of these disciplines and therefore have difficulty introducing students to the huge range of issues raised by the creative, production and communication processes involved in fashion businesses.
The didactical activity of Milano Fashion Institute, on the other hand, sets out to provide students with the specialist interdisciplinary skills they need to manage effectively the entire design, production and communication process of fashion products.
In 2011 Milan Fashion Institute starts the internationalization process ofall the post graduate Masters.
In 2012, the educational and didactic model of Milano Fashion Institute becomes a case studyand it is presented during the event "Designed Asia 2012", Hong Kong, a key international event for teachers, researchers, trend analysts and designers, organized by the Hong Kong Politecnico University School of Design.
Attending a master of MFI provides a unique cultural, personal and professional opportunity to spend a whole year in Milan, one of the major world fashion capitals.
Milano Fashion Institute is the unique Institute founded by the three Milanese Universities in Italy: Bocconi University,(ranking: 11° Worldwide M.Sc. In Finance, Financial Times, 2016; 1° Italian Business School, European Business School Ranking, Financial Times, 2015, 6° European Business School, European Business School Ranking, Financial Times, 2016) Cattolica University (ranking: the Largest Private University In Europe, 7° Italian University, Qs 2016) and Politecnico of Milan (ranking: 1° Italian Engineering & Technology University, Qs 2016).
The selection process is open from February 8, 2016, to December 2, 2016. After receiving the Application Form, Milano Fashion Institute carries out a pre-selection. Subsequently, the Academic Committee will inform if the Application is suitable / or not. If eligible, The applicant must attend an oral interview. For international students
distance interviews are allowed. After the interview final results (admission or non admission) will be communicated by 5 working days. The process usually requires a period of 3 to 6 weeks. We therefore invite the candidates to submit their applications as soon as possible.
In order to apply for the admission to the Milano Fashion Institute Master Programs, the candidate must have:
1. Degree equal to or higher then a Bachelor of Art, Master of Art or Master of Science. It is not necessary to have previously attended a fashion related course.
2. Intermediate level of English knowledge. Certifications are not required. The knowledge of the language will be tested during the interview with the Academic Committee.
The selection is based on the evaluation of several factors, including skills, knowledge, competences and pre-requisites of the applicant. Motivation that led the candidate to apply will be also considered t.ogether with his/her level of involvement in the training project and future career aspirations.
The indicative cost of living in Milan is similar to that of the main European cities. Candidates must consider an average figure of € 800 - 1,000 for personal expenses, divided as follows: € 400-500 for accommodation; € 200 - 300 for meals; € 50 for local transportation; € 150 for miscellaneous costs.

We kindly ask you to consider your accommodation here in Milan several weeks prior to your arrival at MFI. Non-EU students should be aware that proof of accommodation may be necessary in order to complete an application for a student visa.
Prices for a private room in a shared apartment range from € 400.00 to € 500.00 per month. Please note you will also be required to pay a deposit of one to three months’ rent when you sign the contract. Always ask for a signed receipt of payment.
