Admission


Academic Admission Requirements

International students applying to Mohawk College must provide proof of their academic standing equivalent to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12 High School). The following certificates are also acceptable for admission:

Hong Kong

Certificate of Education with credit standing in five academic subjects or pass standing in six academic subjects.

China

Secondary School Graduation: University / College Entrance Examination with a pass in five academic subjects.

India

10+2 High School certificate with Math & Science as compulsory subjects or 10+ diploma graduates with 60% average

England, Asian countries, The West Indies and Africa

The General Certificate of Education with grades of A, B, C or 1, 2, 3 in five academic subjects at the "O" or ordinary level.

Caribbean

Examination Council Certificate with grades A, B, C ordinary level or the Caribbean Examination Certificate with grades A, B, C or 1, 2, 3 in five academic subjects at the general level.

From other countries

We request academic records in English showing applicants have completed 12 years of education. Some preparatory (upgrading) courses at Mohawk College may be necessary before entering a post-secondary program. These applicants will be assessed individually.

English Language Requirements

All classes in Mohawk College are provided in English. Students whose first language is not English, are expected to prove their proficiency by completing any of the following:

  • Successful completion of GAS-EAP (478) Program Level 8 with 70%,
  • TOEFL minimum score of 550 (79-80 Internet based),
  • IELTS Academic minimum score of 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5, or
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma & English Credit (Grade 12 U, M or C) issued from a public school board

Accommodation


nternational Student Services and Mohawk College know that finding new friends can be difficult. Living on campus or in a homestay offers you the chance to learn about Canadian culture and make new friends. Learn about your various options below:

Living in a Homestay

The Homestay program allows our international visa students a chance to live with a Canadian family. This offers several benefits:

  • Make new friends easily
  • Learn casual English as it is used in day-to-day life
  • Witness and experience Canadian culture first hand

On Campus Housing (Residence)

Mohawk College Residence is awarded to International students by lottery because of the demand, so apply before May 15th for September accommodation. 

Off Campus Housing

Our Student Engagement office receives calls everyday from landlords who wish to host students in their rental accommodations. Student Engagement provides off-campus housing informationfor students who wish to find their own accommodation
