Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia, United States, founded in 1878, is a private, not-for-profit, undergraduate- and graduate-level higher education institution with multiple campuses and online programs. Currently the university enrolls about 3,500 students who seek degrees ranging from two-year associates of arts through doctorates. Brenau's curriculum emphasizes professional preparation informed by the liberal arts. Terminal degrees include a Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. The main campus of the Georgia-based institution, which includes the Brenau Women’s College, is in Gainesville with other campuses in Augusta, two metro Atlanta locations, Norcross and Fairburn, and a campus in Jacksonville, Florida.

Application checklist

Official transcripts
High school transcript or official high school diploma for students with no college credit.
If transferring from a college outside the U.S., official evaluation of all course work completed by a NACES accredited evaluation agency.
Credential evaluations of transcripts in languages from countries other than the U.S. must be completed by a professional service and the student will bear the cost of this evaluation. Evaluations by an outside agency such as World Education Service or Education Credentials Evaluators are required to assure accuracy in determining U.S. equivalents, and the student will pay for that service. Information regarding these services may be obtained by contacting the admissions office.
If transferring from a college in the U.S., a SEVIS transfer verification form (included in application package).

All international students, residential and commuting, must have sufficient funds to pay full university tuition fees, textbooks, living expenses, transportation expenses, health insurance, and other incidental expenses while attending a university in the United States. Documentary evidence of means of financial support must be provided to Brenau for admission purposes and issuance of the Form I-20. This evidence is also required by the United States Embassy or Consulate when applying for a student visa to enter this country.

Official Test Scores: TOEFL, IELTS, SAT or ACT Score or Transcript with college equivalency.

International Student Admissions Requirements

International Student English Language Requirement: Proficiency in the English language can be proven through submission of a minimum of one of the following:

  • ACT English score of 19
  • SAT verbal score of 450
  • SAT evidence-based Reading and Writing score of 500
  • Test of English as a Modern Language (TOEFL) score of 497 (Paper based test)
  • Test of English as a Modern Language (TOEFL) score of 170 (Computer based test)
  • Test of English as a Modern Language (TOEFL) score of 59 (Internet based test)
  • IELTS score of 5.5
  • or a grade of “C” or better in EH 101 & EH 102 from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university

The Brenau English placement test will be administered to all international students admitted on a student visa in order to place students in the appropriate English course. If the student has taken the ACT or SAT test, that score will be used to determine English placement.

United States Immigration and Naturalization Service Laws and Regulations: It is the student’s responsibility to know and to comply carefully with all non-immigrant visa requirements as stated under the United States laws under Section 101 (a) (15) (F) (I) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Accommodation


Housing assignments for new students are emailed out mid-June, mid-July, and throughout August for Fall Semester.   Assignments for new Spring Semester students are emailed in December.  Along with the housing assignment email, you will receive roommate information, what to bring/what not to bring information, and move-in day/times.

Returning Students must attend Housing Sign-ups in April to secure a room on campus.
