Admission

Entry requirements vary according to the course you want to study, so make sure you check the specific entry requirements for your course before you apply.

Accommodation

Accommodation options include homestay with a New Zealand family or flatting at the Student Village right across the road from EIT’s Hawke’s Bay Campus. For more information on these options follow the links below. There are also private accommodation options available.

Student Village

The Student Village (SV) is a self-catering complex of 12 villas housing six students in each.  Both New Zealand and international students live together (mixed gender), and although each student has their own furnished bedroom, students share lounge, kitchen and bathroom facilities in each villa.  The SV is a multi-cultural communal environment better suited to more independent students.  It is a great environment to meet other students, study and relax together.  The SV Managers also organise a BBQ in summer and resident sports activities at the start of the semester.  The SV is located on campus and is next to the Sports Centre and bus stop.  There are regular office hours, but as the Managers live on site, there are 24-hour support arrangements for resident students. The SV is $180 per week (plus a $200 bond) and includes:

  • Single furnished bedroom
  • Furnished kitchen and lounge
  • Electricity
  • Internet

Homestay

If you are an English language student, we strongly recommend you apply for homestay accommodation. Homestay provides a warm family environment with your own room and meals provided. It gives you the opportunity to assimilate into Napier and the New Zealand way of life by becoming part of a New Zealand family. All of our homestay families are carefully selected and supervised. They have been vetted by police and inspected by EIT staff. The cost of homestay is NZ$220 per week, and includes:

  • Your own furnished bedroom with study area
  • Clean bed linens and towels
  • Three meals per day (please note that students may be expected to prepare their own breakfast and lunch)
  • Internet connection (please note as internet is capped in New Zealand this is a limited service within your homestay’s internet plan)
  • Located in the Taradale or Greenmeadows area. This is considered a close proximity to EIT, where students may walk, bicycle or take the bus
  • Pickup from Napier airport
