Accommodation support

Housing aid

French and International students who rent a private room or apartment may be eligible to apply for housing aid granted by the French government. Students have to apply through the CAF (http://www.caf.fr/) on arrival to France. The amount allocated may vary between €90 and €170 based on the financial situation of a student and the amount of the rent to be paid.

VISALE Guarantor process

Some landlords may ask for a “guarantor” in order to rent an apartment. This requires a French national or resident working in France and who is financially responsible for paying the rent of the student in the event of default. VISALE is a state insurance allowing students without a guarantor to gain easier access to housing.
